This 1966 Jazz Bass is an early CBS sale. The sound of this model is no
different from the previous ones, and it has a rich sound with warmth and
presence in its fatness. The round board, in which the gluing surfaces of the
fingerboard and neck are joined in accordance with the fingerboard's curvature,
is another feature of this model, and its good balance in all registers is one
of its charms. The sound is thicker than one would expect from a 1966 instrument,
and the overall sound is persistent and warm. The tone is only slightly
effective, which is characteristic of this age, but the attack of strong slaps
and other strong attacks makes the tone feel comfortable, and it is a good
choice for bassists who want a "one-of-a-kind instrument that can be used safely
in the field.
