50's HOFNER 455 Archtop Violin Sunburst  Excellent Conditions OHC code AC121

Very nice acoustic Made in Germany with neck completely straight and the frets in excellent conditions, This is a lovely guitar to play – quite loud, with a punchy midrange and clear top end. Older Hofners did not have a truss rod, which is the case with this guitar. While everything feels just fine below the 7th fret, there is a little upward curving of the neck so the action is just a bit under 2mm at the 12th frets. But it is still quite easy to play in the higher registers. Low action, tuners working well. Nut width: 40,5 mm Scale: 640mm Body width: 41 cm Body depth: 8,6 cm One of the most popular mid-range models. Corresponds to the best years of production, with the logo store seller. Built with a light but clearly visible laminated flammed maple wood, rosewood fingerboard. The Hofner 455 was the non-Selmer version of the Senator with a few differences, Headstock shape and logo placement dates this acoustic to between 1959-1960. Black and white celluloid binding on top, back, and f-holes. Pearloid / tortoishell design headstock facing. Rosewood fingerboard with white celluloid inlays. Pearloid pickguard. It is an outstanding example of European craftsmanship from an era before accountants managed the quality control. Made without compromise, this is quite rare and most desirable instrument which plays nicely, sounds great, and will look absolutely fabulous in your lounge room or studio. Comes in Hard Case.
