CUSTOM (U.S. Mfr.) - offset double cutaway asymmetrical body with point on bottom bout, tortoise pickguard, bolt-on maple neck, 21 fret bound rosewood fingerboard with pearl block inlay, floating bridge/vibrato with bridge cover, droopy peghead, 3 per side tuners, chrome hardware, 2 split covered pickups, volume/tone control, 4 position rotary switch. Available in Sunburst top/Black back finish. Mfd. 1969 to 1970

The Custom model was devised by long time Fender employee Virgilio "Babe" Simoni as a method to use up necks and bodies left over from the Electrix XII model. The twelve string peghead was refitted to six strings, and the body was recarved into a different design. The Custom model was originally to be named the "Maverick", which appears on some pegheads. Simoni estimated production to be around 600 to 800 completed pieces.
